Treatment for UTI
The treatment for a Urinary Tract Infection will depend on whether the condition is mild or severe.
For mild kidney and bladder infections, a 1 to 2 week antibiotic course taken orally usually clears the infection. For severe infections, especially for those occurring in the elderly or in those who have other conditions such as cancer, diabetes, spinal cord injury etc. hospitalization may be required.
Some women suffer from chronic or recurring infections. In this case a prolonged course of antibiotics may be required, for even up to 2 years.
